Billy Head broke a scoreless tie in the second half, and South tacked on two more goals for a 3-0 win over Evansville Harrison Saturday in boys' soccer.

The Panthers (6-1-2) are now unbeaten in their last seven games, the last two shutouts.

“The thing that stands out are these shutouts,” South coach Kevin Sparks said. “I think that’s a good sign that the team is definitely coming together, clicking on all cylinders.”

Head headed home a loose ball off a corner kick for the lead after the Panthers missed numerous first-half chances.

Sterling Jones, playing in just his second game of the year, added a second goal and Chris Post capped the scoring.

“The first half we had chances on goal, but our shots weren’t clean,” Sparks said. “I told them at halftime, ‘If we can get one goal, more will come.’”

Sparks also said senior Drew Barlow was the man of the match, dominating play in the air and helping South control possession.

“All the guys fed off of him,” Sparks said. “It was one of his best games offensively, defensively and leadership-wise.”
